Do you guys think this is a bad planchet. I like it but useless to put in slab. Very weak strike on reverse. I can't think of post mint damage that would cause this, but I have no idea.

At first glance, it appears to be a woody--improperly mixed alloy used in the planchet. Lighting used for both photos doesn't seem to be consistent, making it a bit more difficult to evaluate what may be happening. Also, appears there may have been a cleaning in the coin's past.

Guessing an MS woody with strike issues (grease?). Not a fan. Interested in everyone's opinions.

Angles of striations don't seem to match on obverse and reverse. It's not a misaligned die, is it?

It's a woody, beautiful coin! Better pictures would help but it's at least EF-40 and I'm leaning toward AU.
