So I have been using 100% acetone from Target to soak my coins.

I have noticed it makes my coins shinier and have more luster. It is very noticeable on my Morgan dollars. Night and day difference. I'm hoping they aren't getting "cleaned" or considered details if I were to send them in for grading. Here are some pics of what I buy.

Has anyone else noticed this?

Acetone cannot meddle with the metal of you medal/coin!

We often tell people to use acetone to remove foreign substances from their coins. And, as you have, always use what is sold as "pure" acetone.

DO NOT buy nail polish remover if you need acetone to soak coins. As you can see, it is NOT 100% acetone but contains a little bit of Denatonium Benzoate as well.
This benzoate is slightly alkaloidal and elicit a very strong bitter taste.
DO NOT USE IT!

I read somewhere in another thread that the minute amount of benzoate wasn't a hindrance on the coins.

A can of acetone from the hardware store also ends up much cheaper per ounce than whatever you might buy for removing nail polish.

I find it interesting that the front of the label can claim the product to be 100% acetone when the back says it isn't.

My guess is that the second ingredient is present only at ppm levels (i.e. within round-off accuracy)
