Hello All! What I have here is a 1925 D Wheatie. The coin itself has been heavily circulated and I believe it to be a Denver mintmark. On the bottom of the obverse is something I can't explain. I don't think it's damage but your opinion counts to me. Just wanted your feedback. Thank you!

Not sure. The cent has an awful lot of wear. The only thing that come to mind is a die clash to me. Otherwise, PMD.

I wonder if this coin tool a bunch of hits near the rim, moving the metal around. And after wards, the coin just wore down and the higher points of the hits wore down to the same level as the rim.

Can we see a close up picture of the reverse of the area just opposite the damage we see on the obverse?

It puts me in the mind of a Radical MAD Die Clash but cannot make any sense of it. I have found one modern Lincoln with a Radical MAD Die clash but have never seen anything in wheats listed. Let's see what others say, may just be damage but I'm not sure. Here are some of the type clashes I'm referring too.

I knew I had posted this at some point, I just found it. My Radical MAD Die Clash, just to give you some relevance to my thought process.

Guys this is normal die wear common on the early 20s coins. I've seen them on bu coins on the CoinFacts app.

The reverse die had another die dropped on that die. The higher the fall, the more damage the die to die contact can have. What were are seeing is a "Radical die Clash." While these are not a striking event, the damage created on the die is a transfer from another die from the incident that caused the damage to this die. Thus until the devices are polished, all the coin since that event till polishing will show this MAD clash mark. See the information I added on my previous post.

Coop if you look at this on a bu coin they look totally different. They are sharp and look like ripples in the die. I'm going to look for one. I always believed them to be the jacket chipping/ wearing away.

Here's a less dramatic example. To me definitely not a clash but I have been wrong before.
