Is any of this true doubling? Or just MD and extreme DDD? I see flat shelf like doubling of MD, the die flow of DDD, but many of the devices take extra space. Thanks for helping!

Thanks y'all. And this one, same year and type, is also DDD or VLDS?

Maybe minor MD and circulation flattening. John1

I don't think I'm understanding this. How would circulation flattening cause the letters in EPU to be thicker and closer together? They aren't flattened out and they take up more of the field than on other coins. I was guessing for old polished dies. But, if I look at a different quarter DDR listing (ie 1971-d), the devices on these coins look even thicker, and have the same type of stair step doubling that is pictured on Variety vista... What makes these coins Not DDR's? Is it because they aren't as new looking? Or is it just based on opinions of who happens to be looking at the coin that day?

I'll have to agree with John1 on this one.

I think we need coop to explain it in detail. John1

Looks like extreme die wear. Note how the devices on the EPU are mushy? That is die wear on the multi hub dies. Also Machine Doubling on 'ES OF' devices. On V.V there are not DDR's listed on the post 1973 for that decade on the quarters for DDR's. So die wear and die breakdown is the reason these devices are enlarged on AMERICA plus the MD there also.

Leave it to Coop to come with the infographics! You're always on point Coop, Thank You! Can y'all point me to an example of what " thickened doubling" or "thick doubling" is supposed to be? Does it always have separation lines in the devices?
