Hello all, for your inspection a good looking 1947 P out of my collection of Wheat Cents. Been saving wheaties for a while out of my bank rolls so I have about 280 and I thought Sunday I would search the better looking ones. found this one and looked at the marker info on Copper Coins. Didn't find anything on the reverse but the obverse looked promising. Note the die cracks from the head to the D in GOD and the lighter die crack just before the G to the head. Not markers but interesting. As always let me know your thoughts. Regards!

Definitely looking like a doubled die, but it is not the DDO-001.

Not DDO-001. Note the Motto is not affected as the examples on the site. I see evidence of coin device distortion on the Motto. The DDO is a lot stronger:
1947-P-Possible-DDO-001
1947-P-Possible-DDO-001
1947-P-Possible-DDO-001
1947-P-Possible-DDO-001

Note the Date is not the same hub doubling.

Die DDO-005, has some of the look of your coin:

But the doubling on the top of the '9' is missing. (But this could have been polished off) Still looking at the doubling visible for a match to Liberty on your coin.

Nothing matches the coppercoins listings.

Just made a side by side of the coins in question plus a normal set of images of Liberty:

Not seeing a DDO for this one. The spread is slight. but this was the only area that caught my attention.

I've noticed that LIBERTY has almost universal thickness on all 1947 and 1948 LWC. Master die doubling?

1948 definitely has master die doubling, thickness on outer lettering. It's recognized by CONECA. 1947 I don't think so.

Just keep in mind that at the time they were trying to keep the swelling master hub with alterations on the design to keep it fresh looking. But they couldn't adjust the devices that were moving to the edge of the master hub A this swelling happens, it make the location of the devices and the size of the bust and locations of the devices moved. How much? In 1982 they changed the old master hub for a newly created master hub. Note the size differences on the size of the devices, bust size and locations of the devices:
So having an inquiring mind, I wondered if that was a create of a new design or the older design recreated. So I edited the new small date coins with photoshop making this happen on the program. Want to see the results?

So is that we are seeing?
Large/small date cents:
1947-P-Possible-DDO-001
1947-P-Possible-DDO-001
Note that is exactly what happened with an aging swelling master hub.
Note on the real coins that when the motto was compared, it made the devices shorter in size, thus making the devices wider on the large dates. Also on the real coins we see the space for the But to Liberty and the But to date closer on the large dates along with the date location moving towards the rim. Same thing happen on the 1982-1983 Quarters with the re-creation of the master hub in 1983:
1947-P-Possible-DDO-001
Also on the 1968-1969 cents:
1947-P-Possible-DDO-001
The pressure of making the master dies put such a strain on the master hubs, they swelled outwards of using the same master hubs.
