ebay seller samsaviation_5 says: "My grandfather passed away from covid in March of this year. His name was Owen H Erdman and he was from Houston TX. He was my best friend, a WW2 vet and I'm his grandson an OEF vet. I'm raising money to help support other vets who have lost love ones. The loose coins are in his old lunch box from when he worked at tool co for Howard Hughes." Also, he'd prefer you contact him outside of ebay to trade for crypto. https://www.ebay.com/itm/203699431139

I'm pretty sure that violates ebay policies... Edit: for what it's worth, I reported it for attempting to sell outside of ebay.

Maybe legit but would never click on some weird link that he provided on ebay, could be quite sketchy. Almost without a doubt a scam. hmm looking at the ebay link better not touch that, if I was doing a deal with him it would be face to face and would have to be where I see it with my own eyes that lots worth about 2200 ill assume just silver melt. So unless he stole them I don't know how someone at the pawn shop offer 18000 :o.

How many red flags does one need to walk away here? The money is supposed to be for veteran but he wants it in crypto. Would needy veterans prefer cash or crytpo?

I remember when ebay wasn't a cesspool. Charging for listings would clean up the majority of crap like this.

I noticed this guy's inflammatory listing is still active after 24 hours, even though more than one of us have reported him for numerous ebay policy violations. However, he did knock a hundred dollars off the price, lowering it to $21,900 (maybe to entice the folks that he noticed are Watching the auction)...

The listing appears to have been removed now.

Quote: And they let someone buy it. Wow, 52 bids for a blurry picture from a seller with 1 feedback!
