Hey guys! I just found a coin that I would like to get your feedback on. I found a 1958 D penny that appears to have an S mint mark stamped sideways under the Liberty. Am I seeing things? I'm including 2 pictures of the obverse in different contrast and one of the reverse just for reference. Thanks so much!

@asl, that looks like damage to me--you can see where part of the rim is gouged as well. Here is a rotated, enhanced close-up of your pic.

That is only a very interesting circulation hit, so postmint damage, and a little bit of paridolia (seeing things that are not there). Lincoln's were not struck at the San Francisco mint that year, the last year in the 50s there was 1955, and then they resumed again in 1968, with the memorial reverse.
