I came across this ebay auction about 21 hours before it ends. It is for a 1916-D Mercury. As I type this, it has 72 bids and is up to $485.00. However, in looking at the reverse, it sure looks like a 1916-S to me. https://www.ebay.com/itm/275022974505 Paul Bulgerin

The buyer will at least have the satisfaction of knowing it's not a counterfeit.

The seller does accept returns though, weird to say it's a a 21D if it's a 21s but accepts returns for 30 days. Normally when iv seen untrue listings they don't accept returns. At least if it's an s mm they can return it easily.

Quote: At least if it's an s mm they can return it easily. As the coin's not slabbed, what's to stop the seller from claiming a switch was made? Good catch, Paul!

Likely an honest mistake by the seller, but for the buyers. . . come on.

I contacted the seller. He insists that it's a D. So it's no longer an "honest mistake."

One look at this seller's other listings suggests not a coin aficionado. I wonder, if upon receipt, the buyer will submit the coin for certification .....

That is not a d!

Perhaps the seller's tipped a few too many, or it's a case of Pareidolia ....
