Quick Question Concerning A 1792 Half Disme

Spencerj72 Valued Member United States 163 Posts	Posted 12/04/2021 09:08 am Ok so I have a Half Disme that was over struck a few times so it's ugly but it's also a coin I can't find information on. As I stated it's a 1792 Half Disme struck on copper but it doesn't have plain or reeder edge instead it has a lettered edge reading " Twenty Half Disme for one dollar" so if anyone could point me in the direction of say a Judd number it would be grateful. Conder101 Bedrock of the Community United States 17884 Posts	Posted 12/06/2021 10:57 am The fact that it has edge lettering is to me a good sign that it is a copy because a real Half Dime would be too thin for lettering to be applied so it could be read. There was a reason the mint didn't put edge lettering on anything thinner than the early Half Cents, and why the lettering was dropped when the weight of the cent was reduced in 1795.
