So this is what my week has been like! I'm beyond frustation, so my pick of searching 20 bank rolls is an unusual 1983 D with plating bubbles on the script and Lincoln's Memorial. None on the fields and a spike going to Lincoln's head from the "E" in WE of IGWT. I got into this hobby to late (two years now) and missed when everyone was still using coins so there was a good mix of coins available. Now all I get is shield cents, 1975 to 1979 cents, and a bunch of 1982 zinc cents. Oh well there is always next week. And yes, my pics are bright. Sorry about the number of pics but I need to load the front and back split into 2 due to my systems restricted view. Regards all!

Zinc cents threw me off alot when I first started seeing them, zinc rot is a plague. Still worth 1¢.

More than just plating bubbles, zinc rot is starting to set in. Eventually the whole coin will be rotted.

Welcome to the world of roll hunting. The key to finding the good stuff is to keep searching--the key is quantity and perseverance. You'll have long, frustrating spells--punctuated by a few YAY! moments. Keep at it.

I'm super-glad that you are here and into the collecting hobby, but I disagree that all of the "good" coins are already taken. We see some interesting finds posted here just about every day of the week. Maybe take some time away from Cents and try another denomination?

I started searching cent rolls when I first joined the CCF back in 2011, and at the time was reading how roll searchers in the previous decade were finding on average a dozen Wheaties per roll, and I felt I just missed those rich roll hunting days. Now if I find one or two wheaties per box I feel lucky. A decade from now roll searchers will say, you actually found Memorial cents in boxes? Wow! I'm surprised they're still making cents at all! Ask Wrekkdd or JimmyD how their Canadian cents search is going?

Zinc rot is a real thing and as mentioned will only get worst. Enjoy cent roll searching while you can. We're living in the good ole' days of cent hunting.

And too, we've heard and some of us have experienced cent hoards being liquidated, so never quit, never never never!
