Some time ago I posted that I was starting an IHC set, but to make it challenging for me, not only does each coin need to be graded by PCGS, but in addition, each coin must meet four criteria: 1. The grade must be at least MS65RB or higher. 2. The coin must merit a CAC. 3. The coin must also have Rick Snow's Eagle Eye Photo Seal. 4. Most importantly, I MUST like the eye appeal of the coin! Here's my latest Newp, followed by a hotlink to my set. I'm a little more than halfway complete: Here's a hotlink to my set, which is just a bit more than halfway complete: https://www.PCGS.com/setregistry/ha...edset/266583Steve

Quote: Tough coin in that grade, congrats. @Coinfrog, thanks! Not only is it tough, but out of about 174 coins in this grade by PCGS and NGC, only 10 have a CAC, and this coin is one of those 10! Thanks too to hfjacinto, and Paul Bulgerin for your kind words. Steve

In order to accomplish this, do you submit coins for CAC or Eagle Eye yourself, or must they have it to start with? Just curious.

Quote: In order to accomplish this, do you submit coins for CAC or Eagle Eye yourself, or must they have it to start with? Just curious. Excellent question! 1. I don't want to take on the financial risk of buying a coin without a CAC, and then not having it get a CAC upon submission. 2. I've spoken with Rick, and with his help I've been learning the details of his "PDS" grading system: Planchet, Die State, and Strike, five points for each, for a maximum of 15 points. So some of the coins I've bought with just a CAC, and then sent them to Rick to get the Photo Seal applied. Steve

Great coin, and wonderful set. You've set yourself a high bar, but the IHC set is coming along very nicely!

VERY attractive example! I can see why you chose it and why it got both stamps of approval. Congrats!

My FE/IHC set is complete in MS. All are -63 or higher except the 1856 FE; it's a PCGS MS-62 S-3. But your MS65RB/CAC/Eagle Eye or better set will significantly outdo mine. Two asides: 1. NGC does not recognize any uncirculated 1856 FE as MS. They grade them all PF. And I heard a rumor that PCGS will no longer grade any as MS. Is that so? 2. One of my less that brilliant moves. I had an IHC with an Eagle Eye sticker. At the time I didn't know what that was so I removed it. D'oh!

I own only one Flying Eagle cent for my Dansco 7070 Type Set, and it's not 1856. For #2, GOOD NEWS! Go to Rick's website at indiancent.com (cent is singular), then click on Photo Seal in the top black horizontal border, then enter the cert number in the horizontal box called "Photo Seal Lookup", then click on the "Lookup" button just underneath. That will show if your coin is in his database as an approved PS coin. Presumably it is. Then contact Rick, and he'll reapply the sticker, and also provide you the plasticized card that you might not have, and if photos are not already in his database where you did your search, he'll add photos once he has your coin in hand. Let us know how you make out! Steve
