Hi everyone!
I am curious to see what you all think of this quarter. It stood out immediately from the rest of the roll because the color is quite different than normal. It also appears to be only one color when viewing from the side. I tried to search for something similar but haven't been able to find anything exactly like it. I would appreciate any information or feedback. Thanks!
Jenn

A photo of the rim--edge-on--might be useful. Thanks.

That is odd. What does it weigh?

Not exactly sure of what happened to it but I am sure
it is not an error but some sort of damage.

Wonder if heat may have damaged the coin, followed by an attempt to 'clean' it--long, long ago.

Looks too like some form of material accretion may have occurred, followed by a bad plating/painting job.

An accurate weight would help.

Not sure. I found it in a Roll of quarters that came from the bank to my work. My initial thought was that it looked melted. The obverse looks like it has added material of some kind. It weighs 5.75g so there is definitely extra 9f something. I think I agree with ijn1944, seems to fit all the characteristics I am seeing in person too. Thank you all for the info.

My first thought was lousy counterfeit attempt but weight is "normal." Is the eagle incuse? It looks that way in the photo.

I thought the same thing - then I blinked a bunch of time and the eagle looked 'normal' - by that I mean raised
