They are nice die chips, I'm sure that somebody specializes on them. I like the 1960 and seeing the progression of the chip.

They are "die events". Not a listed and have no premium for these. They are common on coins. New collectors go gaga over them, but they are no a collector item to a seasoned collector.

I "collect" these because I think they're cool, but I only collect the ones I find. afaik there is no premium for most of these except maybe some of the really cool ones.

Also used as markers to identify some varieties in later stages.

Someone collects them as they can sell for a dollar or two on ebay for the nicer/larger ones, but yeah, very common especially on 1960-D small date. And I'd say your two coins are not a progression, as mint mark position seems higher on the first one. Side note: one of the error collections I bought recently had something like 200 of these in it, all in bad condition, but does show they are collected as every coin was labeled with exactly where the die chip was and all that.

That said, there are some seasoned collectors who do indeed collect them--not for buying multi-million dollar properties, but for the fun and curious nature of them. The 'bolder' the better. I am a seasoned collector, and I do collect the more substantial examples.

I am in fact not interested in these just willing to give them to some who likes them. So first one to email me an address to send them to (if that's okay on the forum, I don't want to violate any rules) I am not looking to sell them. It doesn't hurt to make someone else happy with something I will put in roll

Beautiful examples Gros! I'm sure someone will be happy to have them in their hands.
Personally, if I come across substantial examples of them, similar to ijn, I will store them in 2x2s and keep them. However I personally would not buy them if they were being sold, unless their was an extreme one.
That being said, I still consider them quite nice! Good on you for giving them away!

Very common chip/broken post on the mid-1950 wheats. I wouldn't pay a premium for it, others will disagree.

You see the same group give me opinions on every coin I and mostly shoot me down. I have a lot of parachutes keep shooting me down It will keep me motivated until I become the old guy on knowing the whole thing in th nutshell . if any of you want these, email me

Sorry for you love lost Jason. It is not easy think. Also for me even that in my career I saw hundreds of life's gone, Christmas and New Year are heavy. I lost my father on 24 Dec and berried on his birthday on 1 Jan. It's sad your history, but be happy you has 2 which take the legacy of their mother in the future, your also.
I will be really happy to know that you will receive those coins.
God bless you.
