I have been asked to post pictures of some of my coins to see how collectors on here would grade them. How would you grade them? Are they auction quality? Are they good enough to have graded? Just a beginner trying to learn grades, values, what to save and what no to. Where would you try to sell these? Thanks.   Edited by rkennedy1945

@rke, it is looking like you have the obv of one coin posted and the rev of another. Once you fix this folks will be able to help you with your grading questions.

Please post one coin at a time. The Morgan dollar looks cleaned to me. Not sure about the Kennedy half. And we need to see both sides of the coin |

As far as I know the Morgan dollar has not been cleaned. I have had it in a coin case and in gun safe for over 29 years. I do not clean coins. |

You've also got some buildup on the lower obverse around the date that I'm going to call verdigris or what might be pvc cause and effect. I'd like to see what others think of those details. |

It was common in the 50"s and 60's for collectors to clean coins. Coins with original skin became harder to find and the value for the problem free examples increased. I would grade your 1889 Morgan at XF Details Cleaned. The coin does not have the value to send in for grading. The grading cost would cost about the same amount of the coin value. Your Morgan could be sold on ebay in the $35 to $40 range, but you will pay about 15% for shipping and selling fees. |
