Happy New Year everyone. A little something for your entertainment and help me figure out what happened with the strike on obverse of this 1993(guessing) with the missing forth letter of the date and the I in liberty. I believe the culpert to be grease so I took eight pics to show the actual compairson of the obverse uuder low light and with a small flashlight to see the difference. This is how I discovered the forth letter of the date is 3. The next 4 pics are of the obverse and the reverse. The last two shots show what appears to be doubling at the ends of the memorial. I am unsure if the strike thru shows on the reverse, but some letters are affected espically One Cent. Sorry for the number of pictures but I was unsure of what happend to this coin. Regards and let me know your thoughts!

I do not find the diagram of all 199X years. Could be on first view an 3, 8 or 9.

Hope tomorrow or later COOP take a look.

Nice Greaser on liberty and the last number on the date. Looks like also a DDD. Notice the pushed copper on top of the head and the split plating there

1. Die polishing makes the devices smaller in size by reducing the height by removing the fields.

2. Grease makes a devices wider in shape and also shorter and sometimes removes the device totally:

3. DDD under the devices on ONE CENT.

4.Split plating on the fields between the tops of the devices and rim area and on the outside edges of the building.

5. Ridge Ring is also affecting obverse, but the die polishing removed the devices because of the die distortion.

So you can have more than one issue[/b] going on with the strike of the coin.

CoopHome: So can more than one striking/die event affect a sing coin? Yes.[/b]
