Looks like MD on the N and T I think the C took a hit and flattened it out The L's look normal to me.
But I'm no expert here

Dearborn, that is why I put the comparison pics in there, if you cannot discern mine from the normal coin, I cannot explain it any further. Alright, maybe I can. Here is a pic that shows there is no loss of size (note the yellow line), not MD and yes there is damage, I noted that in the beginning of the thread. Hopefully this will help.

Really hard to tell on this on. Any thickness on the central building design? Some of the doubling really looks like DDD to me and the damage is covering up some key areas.

With the thickness on the stairs, yeah definitely a DDR. Without any other context from the building, I would have called the doubling of MONTICELLO just DDD. You just don't see this kind of separation on modern DDs (Still could be a mix of DDD and DD) and it's lacking obvious notching (Although I think now I can see some slight notching on the I in the new pic). I've found 2 2021-P's with extra thickness DDRs so far. Yours doesn't match either of mine.

Thanks Tanner and sorry, Dearborn, I may have overstepped, thought it was obvious but forget, in hand it's a little different....

I was just really excited about this find, because what I researched, there has not been a doubled die of this caliber in years, with the nickels.

Do not be excited, You has a funny coin to be put on his place. Right with NE. Up maybe and die crack?. For me is funny the lines of the building. It is the photos or to old to distinguish angles and parallels lines?
In general till now the DD was up also, your do not has. Curios to see what Mike or Coop say.

I feel very comfortable with this being a very nice doubled die but feel I need to find a better example before sending in, as very key areas are damaged. Maybe someone else has already sent one in and is waiting to be attributed, we'll see.

I agree with Tanman's assessmen (almost always do, he is just about the gold standard around here when it comes to minor varieties on modern US coinage). I see some very minor extra thickness, especially on the C, so it is a doubled die, but I think there's also some DDD going on on the N and T, which is muddying the water.

Thanks for looking, Sam. I agree, Tanman2001 is all over the "modern" doubled dies and so much more, very sharp and learned individual.
