1947 Jefferson With Weak Mintmark - Coin Community Forum

bibd Pillar of the Community Canada 838 Posts	Posted 01/26/2009 11:40 pm I recently picked up a 1947 Jefferson nickel with a VERY weak mintmark. I was initially sure it's an 'S', but now am fairly convinced it's a 'D'. There are steps on the Monticello, and overall the grade is pretty decent, perhaps EF-40. bibd Pillar of the Community Canada 838 Posts	Posted 01/27/2009 8:49 pm When I looked a second time today, I also started re-thinking my 'S' assertion and am leaning towards 'D' too. I will try to get a better picture, but I'm a newbie at coin photos. What's frustrating is that, yes, the fields are discoloured in that area. I just thought it was too much of a coincidence to see that extra noise in the MM area. Report this Post to the Staff
