I picked up a couple of these from the local Pawn Shop. Are they a series worth collecting? Should I just resell them? I have an 1810 and an 1814, both in VF or better condition IMHO. I hadn't really thought about collecting them, but when I hold them, they seem interesting. Does anyone have a collection of them?

I just have one for my type collection, but I think they are very popular to collect. They are a really sharp design with the edge lettering, the large size (they are bigger than the "standard" size of 30mm), the fact that they are so old and the fact that there were a lot of them made (for the times) and are still available in good condition for a reasonable price.

I think CBHs are one of the more fascinating series for the number of varieties, especially overdates. I currently only have one, the 1829/1827, but plan to collect more of these overdates when I'm able.   |

Heck No sell them to me. jk.. If you post a picture of the obverse and the reverse I can attribute them for you. Let you know what the R rating is etc..

If you ask me, your Busties are definite keepers. Having said that, in VF they're both candidates for resale at a profit due to demand. i have one in my collection its a 1818 over 17 I paid 95$ for it but its in xf condition I love this series but funds wont allow me to lavish on em!

EDGE LETTERING...there are only 16 series of US coins with edge lettering...beginning with early dollars 1794-1804, half dollars 1794-1836,one cent 1793-1796, Half Cent 1793-1797, jump about 100 years to the $20 gold Saint-Gaudens series....then jump another 100 years to the current Presidential dollars series 2007-  The bust half is a great entry point to collecting a type set of all lettered US circulating coins....have FUN!

One thing to remember about Busties ... survivorship is large compared to other series of the period. This was due to economics and silver content. I only have three and want more also. |

Bust 1/2's are a great series, and you can collect them (by variety) for ever and not be finished.
Good luck on the start of a great set.

I am still torn on these two Capped Bust 50 cent pieces. Part of me wants to sell them so I can buy something I am more interested in and part of me wants to get them graded and slabbed to see if they are really worth something. I think I would rather add to my ASE set and maybe get some key Lincoln Wheat Cents. Thoughts? |

If you post some pics you can get both an idea of their value and someone here might be interested in buying them. If they are problem free and VF, you've got a couple valuable coins.

Hi. Why don't you post some pics of the halves? Common date VFs or less probabably wouldn't be worth the cost to slab but if there's some rarity involved it's another story. BTW, the local pawn shop, is that a good place to go coin hunting? There's a lot of them in Atlantic City...
