Just picked up this 1970S Proof Set:

The Kennedy half appears to be a die rotation error, should I try and crack the mint set open and realign it to see if its off by more than 15 degrees, or leave it alone?

I'm terrible at trying to figure these things out- but it looks like if I re-align the Obverse to the correct position (Level off the "In God We Trust"-) does that make the Reverse even further out of rotation? or does it bring it back in line?

Thanks for any help/opinions please!

Actually it appears to be in proper alignment. When you flip side to side, the off-alignment in the set should be the same in opposite directions from obverse to reverse, and that's what it appears you have...about 20 degrees off to the left on the obverse,t hen 20 degrees off to the right for the reverse. If the 20 degrees were taken off in opposite directions from obverse to reverse, both sides would be in proper alignnemt.

You could take a washable marker and a ruler or sheet of paper and line it up with the coin and make a mark at the top and bottom of the case. Then turn the case over and align the ruler up with the marks and see how the coins alignment is. Washable marker can then be wiped off leaving no trace.

Like this..sorry for the bad focus..just did it quick for an example.

just my opinion, I see the face side or obverse side of the Kennedy halve coin picture, and it looks out about 20 degrees, away from the cent coin, and if you look at the reverse side of this coin, in relation to the cent coin and turned the halve away from the cent coin to straighten the halve, wouldn't the halve be further out of alignment?
