Hello again, I found weird fused lettering on a 1991-P Quarter recently, which is why I took a picture of it.

I did a google search and someone mentioned normal wear when the "I" and the "N" or "In" were fused together, but this specific occurrence doesn't look like normal wear, the rest of the quarter looks fine, just these letters in that specific spot stands out.

What could cause an error such as this, if it actually is an error, what would the error be called?

Consider posting full, large and sharp images of the coin--both sides. May help us better evaluate. Thanks.

Sure, I'll do what I can, these are the best images I took after a few takes with my phone, I don't have any other viable camera besides the microscope, which is the type of picture you saw on the original post.

It is not an error as it didn't happen during the striking of the coin.
Die Deterioration is causing the thickness of the letters and it has
taken a hit that is fusing them together. PMD

yes, a lot of flattening on the motto. the metal gets flatter and fatter making them merge into a mess like you see on your coin.
