@tna, instead of a doubled nose, do you mean two nostrils? If so, then I think that is just a well-placed hit on the tip of Abe's nose.

If the issue is the number of nostrils, then yes, a nice post-strike ding/hit is the likely cause of the 'outer' nostril.

I have 1 of these. Does your's have a crescent line thru the top of the head? I think I know what causes it. If you'd like to know what I've found email me. It's bizarre but I can prove it. Rather not hear about how impossible it is from everyone else.

There is a big difference between doubling and damage. Damage is incuse. Doubling is raised copying the design on not just that one area, but on all areas on both sides of the coin if double struck. On a doubled die, the devices will be raised and enlarged.
