Hi,According to the chart on this site there are not ASEs minted in SF every year? I was hoping to build a full set of SF proofs, but will be disappointed if they were not made every year.

You'll be more disappointed as there was no proof at all in 2009.

Thanks for the link, looks like I need to do more research before diving to things.
Dang,I see now that the 09 is nonexistant. And with all the goofy labels from NGC my binder could easily get messy looking.

I for one am not disappointed there was no proof issued in 2009, that saves me some money, nearly $100 I imagine.
I also ignore those "emergency issues" "early strikes" and "first day issues" and the like perpetrated by the grading firms. A bullion coin is a bullion coin, regardless of when or where minted during the year.

Yes,I have many proofs already, but I think I will keep it simple now.And go with an album of MS69, one of each year, anything more defined will just seem incomplete in the end. With the most plain NGC labels. I agree, all of the First Strike and Early Release hype labeling just looks messy when placed together.I call that fan abuse, lol

Although some people do not appreciate his work, Daniel Carr took some 2009 ASEs and made overstrikes with a proof finish. It fills a hole. If you do not know his work, his US overstrike coins (legal to do) are perfect looking to actual US coins (his designs are on some US minted coins). He only makes fantasy issues the US mints never made and uses a press he bought from the Denver mint to make them. He has a quite a following in the hobby. Search ebay for "Daniel Carr 2009 silver eagle," and you can see some for sale now. But they are pricey (800 made).

Oh No,they look pretty good. Maybe I can make a proof set. (I wonder if NGC will put them in a Early Release label for me,hahah)
This is a great group. I just learned so much from one post. I need to learn to ask for directions more often...

Also,it's crazy to think you could buy a press from the mint!?!

Yes, I don;t know the whole story (don't remember t), but it was not functioning at the time. He did a lot of refurbishing ad tooling to make it work again as well as finding coins inside of it!
I have one of the 2009 Carr Eagle's I bought around 2011 or so b/c I was wanting to make a set of the proofs myself. I admit after the mint hiked the price ridiculously high on them in 2021, I stopped collecting them annually. I miss it, but the greed they exhibited is just not worth patronizing them anymore for these coins. I am thinking of consolidating and maybe getting some classic coins in better condition. I think I will not miss the proof ASEs if I go this route.
