Apparently only 600k minted for circulation. The 2013 $2 was 1 million. Does this mean that the 2020 coin is likely to become as valuable as the 2013 coin or are there other factors that determine values?

SallyG, I think there were far too many collector rolls and sachets of the 2020 WW2 coins produced for them to become as sought after as the purple coronation coins (rolls of which are extremely scarce)

There is also a chance more WW2 coins will be minted/released in the future and that 600K figure could go up like the 2019 fifty cents did.

Yeah I think the mint must be sitting on a few because they were due to be released not long after all the lockdowns started in 2020.

Probably not as that 2020 coin was publicised a lot and widely available and everyone was well aware of the coloured $2 coin craze.

Whereas back in 2013, that was only the second one and its mintage was quite low like the first. Maybe in 2012, people thought the red poppy coin was a one off and were still not fully convinced that this would be a going thing.

The fact it was not hugely publicised and Australian Mints did not put up posters saying "Australian Poppy and Purple Diamond Anniversary $2 coins - get yours now, they are the first in a series that will degenerate into Mr Squiggle and the Wiggles! get an iggle iggle on now! - before they start appearing on ebay for $100000 each"

Sorry I am in a silly mood!

Yes, certainly wasn't any craze at the time. I remember just going down to the local post office and buying a PNC a few days after they were released. Wish I'd bought a few of them now, especially as they had the C mint mark.

RAM mintages don't include the rolls minted for collects, if I remember correctly it's somewhere in the appendix or footnotes.

I see the RAM has amended that figure to 2 million in their 2021/22 annual report so nothing special about the mintage number of this coin.
