Thank you for the note, I appreciate it. I'm working in determining the difference in how to determine the conditions of coins.

Doesn't look MS to me, perhaps mid-AU.

These are so hard to grade and I'm just getting started trying them out. Here are my thoughts. As far as strike this one looks above average. The series seems to be graded with a fair amount of allowances for marks and yours is very clean. The one area I see lacking is luster. If in hand it shows better in this regard I think you may have a nice higher grade example. I would have no problem with ms64 and if the luster/eye appeal is there in hand you could bump it to ms65.
Edit- really guys? I don't see wear here. The rims are clean. The bell line areas would show abrasion marks and I just see lack of detail there like the majority of stiles. Like I said I am very new to this series and they are so tough to grade.

Lack of luster may be a lighting (photography) issue. Having said that, I see AU55+, not MS. Nice pick up, anyways.

Thanks guys. Captain I also thought it was a little higher in grade but it is lacking luster. Good to know I should look for more of that when searching, at the time of purchasing I was thinking that the lack of luster could mean it hadn't been cleaned which could help the value of the coin. Overall I like the pawn shop pickup. Thanks again all.

At this grade it's just a bullion coin. Worth about $11/12 so right around what you paid for it.

I would go AU-53-ish. I would not even put this in a 2x2 or flip and instead put it in with my other "junk silver" Franklin halves.
