I've come across hundreds of delimination errors but this one is new. I'm fairly certain its just a run of the mill lam but it runs up the rim. It's not a clamshell planchet error as it stops on the top of the rim. Just want to get other thoughts.

Thanks.

Laminations can happen on the rim as well.
It just depends where the blank was positioned on the sheet
that had the lamination on it.

I think I could vote for a cracked planchet. probably broke when it was punched out - but the weak spot could be due to a bad alloy mix.

True. But they won't be on the outside edge of the coin. The outside edge is cut. A lamination will be on the obverse or reverse faces of the coin, including the rim. If there is peeling on the outside edge, that is a struck through debris issue.
