@matt, your pic is a bit blurry but yes that looks like a S mintmark to me.

To me it looks like it can be nothing but an S. Congrats on the nice set you seem to be putting together.

Agree it has to be an S. I'll say AG-03 if you're very lucky, but FR-02 seems more likely.

Yes, a clear S to me. Several dates of the Barber quarter have varieties of the placement of the San Francisco mintmark, some are centered between the R and the D, and others like yours are shifted to the far right.

Has to be an S. I don't think any 1897-O has been found in the far right position, but it's common for 1897-S. Plus it looks like an S. https://archive.org/details/compgui...n55/mode/2up

FR-02 and it looks like an S more than any other MM .
