Interesting. Images posted are difficult to evaluate. If possible, please remove the coin from the 2x2 and take new, softly-lit pics. Thanks.

Looks like the outline of a piece of sticky-tape.

@heres, I'm going to go in a different direction on this.

It looks to me like this cent has been stored for a long time in this 2x2, perhaps in a humid environment and the coin has transferred a bit to the plastic film (rather than their being a second Lincoln memorial struck on the coin). Please remove from the 2x2 and reimagined for us.

Ah Man! Spence beat me to it on this one.
I does indeed look like the cent in this 2x2 made an impression on the film protecting the coin - maybe there were other items on top of it pressing down on it for a while. Then it was moved around and the coin slowly rotated in the 2x2 to its current position.
How about this, Take it out of the 2x2 and get a photo of it and lets see how it look then?

What ever happened it looks like the outline was there on the planchet before the striking of the cent.Planchet errors encompass all mistakes resulting from a defective blank. Nice error.

Question... Is the edge of the 'phantom' image recessed (lowering toward the center), or raised (rising)?
