I have been itching to get into coin roll hunting but my small town banks here don't carry rolls. Now I have a supposed source for coin rolls!

I was at a casino to have some dinner with my co-workers and I got there a tad earlier (I live in Nevada). So I went the cashier booth and asked the lady behind the counter if they have rolls of coins.

"Yes, we do."

Sweet! She said they have everything up to half dollars. I only had $5 on me and I didn't want to be cash-less so I didn't get any rolls. It looks I owe the casino another visit now!

Has anyone else gotten rolls of coins from a casino? What will I find?

Well, I personally have not searched casino's, I try to stay away from those money dumps, but a friend of mine used to work at a casino in vegas and he said that he ran across some silver. He doesn't collect, so he just did whatever with them. I guess it depends what you are looking for. My guess is that alot of the coins might be in rough shape with being dropped in machines, and rolled up constantly.

Good luck and let us know how your next visit goes.

It wouldnt hurt to try, but I have to wonder if they use a coin discriminator in their machines. So if a silver half is put into the machine, would it be rejected because it's not the same content as a copper-nickel clad half? I guess it depends on the sensitivity of the discriminator.

One suggestion though....if the cashiers cage limits how much you can buy for any reason or if you want to avoid the hassle of the wrappers then try this. Put your bill into the machine, let it give you "credit" and then hit the cash out button. You should get paid back in halves for the amount of the bill without having to bother anyone until you bring the unwanted halves to the cage to cash in.

I have been doing this a while. I go to Reno quite often. The last time I was there, I asked the cage for $200 of Half Dollars. Not one silver. I think the Casino employees pull them out when they see em. I have found some 35% War Nickels in rolls. That's about it.

Years ago, I used to go to Atlantic City occasionally, but the last time I went there, most of the casino's no longer give you coins when you win. Instead you get a reciept that you have to cash in.
