This Trade dollar is currently up for auction, and I would like your grades and opinions, so I can put a value on the coin. The coin appears to be a little over graded. I will post ICG grade in 48 hours.

The photos are a little washed out. I'm tentatively at obverse AU-50, reverse AU-53, probably nets to AU-50. Maybe an old cleaning, market acceptable.

No better than AU50 to these tired old eyes of mine and probably cleaned at one time, too. Starting to tone back nicely is a plus.

I wouldn't be surprised one bit if ICG labeled it as a straight grade 55.

Id call it AU58, not seeing much in the way of any wear, just consistent breaks in the fields luster/high points. ICG may have said MS60
Rest in Peace

I don't see any wear but luster seems largely absent from the fields. I'd guess AU-55. Based on what these photos show this coin is not mint state.

I would think ICG grade this one at AU 58, or even MS-60.

Questionable surfaces -- the luster is broken up quite a bit -- old dip?
I see almost no wear if any on the high points obv/rev

This is a true slider Unc in my opinion
Call it 58 sharpness but I would net it down to 50 +/- 53

An old dip is possible. On the obverse all the high points have the luster broken. The only luster visible is the protected areas and the field. I am leaning toward a cleaning that could have caused the broken luster.

AU-58 Details Cleaned. There are some major hairlines beneath the eagle's wings, over the arrows, and through the olive branches. I don't think they are die polishing lines, and they are enough to warrant a details grade.

for a high AU coin the fields are a little dull. I think it had a dip but not overdone and would grade straight.

AU50 maybe a stretch to AU53

It's interesting that we are all over the lot on the grades here, but we are pretty much hesitating on the same things. Regardless of what ICG's grade come in as, ICG is solid on authentication.
