I'm seeing evidence of lamination issues, yes. A full photo of the coin's reverse might be useful.

It could be a lamination issue or a struck through copper debris from another coin. If so, they will look like that. Depends on how large it is. But being circulated reduces the value a lot more. Possible 50 cents to a dollar. Wheat cent 1 dollar and up. All depending on condition of the coin and how much is affect. The more the affect, the more desirable they can be. Too small it makes a distraction to the coin and unwanted. It would be a longer topic for a new thread. But probably no one would be interested? I have images wanting to get out. Hmmm.... |

very nice laminations. What is the weight of this coin? It looks to me it may come in a bit light of the normal 3.11g.

You can tell that the area below TRUST was missing before the strike. The NT on the reverse is weak.

Keep in mind that lamination cold rolled on the the previously hot rolled metal can be flatten if thin, or leave a deeper foot print on thicker debris rolled on to the stock material. The open pit look is probably some something that was there and now missing that was thicker. Weight would help to see if it is normal or less than normal. Why this question?
Normal would be a struck through that fell off of the coin, that was struck onto the planchet.
Less than normal would indicate the weight is less because part of the original planchet is now missing.
That is the only way I can tell for sure what could of happened to the coin. Over or under weight?
