Having just spend 30 minutes browsing for coins in Gumtree I've reached the long overdue conclusion that I've had it with this e-platform as a source of coins. I used to find the odd bargain or good priced deal but those days have long gone. Between the thousands of overpriced common coins interspersed with rare 1988 $2 HH coins there's simply nothing worthwhile. It's probably been 2-3 years since I purchased coins from Gumtree. Anyone else still using Gumtree for coins or am I the last sap to bail out?

Here's one Sap that never bailed in to it. Never used it, sorry. Gumtree, with its encouragement of face-to-face dealing rather than shipping, never seemed to me to be an optimal platform for small, valuable, easily-stolen things like coins and jewellery. Most people buying and selling coins prefer to remain anonymous. Gumtree works much better with its original target market: second-hand goods and furniture.

Nah I'm still watching, but mainly waste of time or people seeking too much of discount when buying silver's 50c round max 10 dollar buyin buy random. Note their are a bunch of scammers as well so yeah you take the hits. What sort of stuff you looking for? There was a time when I was happy to do deal on their but these days...

Found to have more issues using ebay. Even "reputable" dealers with many thousands of ratings have tried passing off quality fakes on multiple occasions. Pays to have a xrf or easy access to one...

Gumtree is no good for selling or buying coins. Gave them away a long time ago

I think I looked there once for old coin magazines but never bought anything, let alone coins.

I haven't bought any coins from Gumtree and think Gumtree is overpriced. However, in the last 3 weeks I've bought a Sony Bravia KDL - 40HX75 for $40 for me and a Sony Bravia KDL 40V2000 for $50 for my fiance. Both TV's work well and are great with no problems at all. As always check out your purchase well after doing your homework first.

The last time I purchased was about 5 years ago,i was on Holidays in Caloundra Qld.,bored with rain and thought I would have a look after nothing on ebay. Ended up purchasing 2 Bulk Buys, one in Caloundra and the other in Brisbane. Very happy.

Here's a classic Gumtree ad although it does make me laugh. I wonder what the seller is on. https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/law...s/1295334408And another. https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/kal...e/1294108061When you can get these for $70-100, what a bargain at $175. I too have bought recent furniture from GT but it's too stressful going through all the s*%t coin adverts to find the odd coin bargain, if they even exist anymore. I find less crap on ebay but am tending to seek alternate sales platforms. I did score 16 almost UNC Italian modern coins for 1Euro from Italy with Free Shipping. I had most of them but these were much better condition. I didn't think the seller would send them but they turned up yesterday - 6.90 Euro postage. Poor bugger.

Gee,disappointing there is no round 50c in that set..LOL. ebay sellers for the most part do their research/homework on current values,GT is often non collectors listing Coins and hoping for the best,if its old it must be valuable, however there are rewards for people with the time to trawl listings, don't be afraid to make offers.
