@cam, I agree with the above and would add that this inward shifting on the last digit of the date (or equally often the L of LIBERTY) may very well be mechanical damage from the mechanism in a bumble gum machine.

Agreed, post mint damage.

BTW, no need to mention " no mint mark" as the mint mark was intentionally left off on (most) Philadelphia minted coins. With very few exceptions, "S" minted coins are from San Francisco, "D" mints are from Denver, and no mint mark coins are from Philadelphia. Hope this helps.
