Are those pin holes in the 1813 Santiago 8 reales?

Very nice. Tell Carl hello for me! How are you going to sell them? On the site here or try on another site like ebay?

No pin holes. I think you are seeing small pieces of lint from the envelopes that I am storing them in. They will be sold on ebay. At least three of the five total coins will be listed tonight to end next Thursday. I may do all five of them this week (4 and 8 reales) but I'm not sure yet.

I have heard from Carl Clegg regarding two of the 8 reales coins (1739 Mexico and 1813 Potosi) listed. Apparently, they are counterfeits with forged COA's. I have ended the auctions for those two coins, but urgently recommend that no one bid on the remaining 4R or 8R coins until I hear from him to verify which coins are genuine.

Susanlynn9- really!?! Gah! I'm sorry to hear that. How was Carl Clegg able to determine that these are fakes?
well, now that I look a bit more closely, the 9 and the "MF" of the 1739 really don't look quite right, and the same can be said of the surfaces of the 1813.

Carl is really knowledgeable about Pillars and has a great website for information. If you have never visited it, I highly recommend a look. He has also put a disclosure on his website that his certificates are being counterfeited. He has a nice section on fakes and counterfeits within the website.

Wow, even COA's are being forged! The coins are still very nice fakes.

The reason that disclaimer is on the columnarios site is because of the auctions that I had running. Apparently, the person who consigned these to me is a big distributor of counterfeits. After the emails verifying that the rest of the coins were counterfeit, Carl called me. We had a very nice conversation and I am very grateful that he alerted me to these coins.

I'm very glad to hear you were forewarned before these coins sold and reflected back on you. Quote: Apparently, the person who consigned these to me is a big distributor of counterfeits. I can only guess he didn't think you'd take due diligence and check with an expert? Oopsey. I hope this person's dealings become a matter of public record.

I have no expertise on the Mexico and Santiago coins. It seems likely that they would pass as genuine to a casual collector. The Argentina (Rio de la Plata) coin however looks suspicious. It has granular surfaces and has weak details which I don't think is typical. The date numerals are poorly formed. For comparison, here is my 1815 specimen of this type, graded AU-55 by PCGS:
