Almost forgot
to the CCF

Might be solder to convert into a piece of jewellery
In any case it is PMD.
Also coins are not printed, they are struck or minted
and a Cud involves the rim.

. Not a proof,a polished business strike most likely used as jewelry at one point.

Coin should be over weight. possible solder? Ruined a nice coin to show the reverse on something it was soldered to.

I agree with this, This is the 2nd time we've seen a Buffalo nickel turned into jewelry and having the buffalo side being the 'show' side.
A lot of solder was used here in an attempt to adhere it to a backing of some sort.

As has been said, not a proof and soldered onto something at one point. The scratches look like they are from when it was pried loose of whatever it was attached to.

First,

Your coin is a business strike, rather than a proof. IMHO, this coin was soldered to a money clip.

Having the reverse facing out on cufflinks, tie tacks, and money clips is common in the Front Range, because of the number of CU graduates here. Way back in the day, my dad had a full set for just that reason.

I forgot about the CU connection. They've been the Buffaloes since 1934. NDSU (since 1919) and Howard U also have a bison. Of course there's also the Buffalo Bills. Plenty of reasons to mount the bison facing out.
