Just a damaged coin. Note the rim is pushed into the area where the damage is. It wasn't that way when it was struck.

with above - the lines we see are at a 90 degree angle to the rim hit, which tells me that it had been skidded along the ground or something.

If you could get us some clearer pics, it may show more. I'm sure there is PSD, as already stated but I think you have some improper alloy mix going on here, that has created a woody look and possible light lam. I see no clashing though. Much clearer and possibly, closer pics, would be needed to verify this though.

I have to agree with makecents, no clash, the angle is all wrong. But I like his idea about an alloy mix issue

Could be an alloy mix issue, but I wonder if it isn't PVC residue or a similar surface issue. Maybe a candidate for an acetone bath first?

Also, what's up with that giant chunk of rim missing at UNUM?
