nice RPM-005 on a nice looking coin

does not look like a clash under the chin in your photo or a chip on the right stalk.

maybe stage A

Excellent, right on the money. You are hooked.

Looks like the clash at throat [weak]. Not sure why they didn't mention that crack/line connecting the 1 & 9.

Nice find and attribution.

As far as the stage, it looks like there is a die clash at the throat and no chip in the outer left wheat edge matching VV images.

So I would venture that yours is a stage B

It is a later stage 'B' example heading towards the 'C' grade. The weakening the die scratches tell me the again signs. Did you note that the die scratches were fading on the different die stages? That is the clue. but the reason it lasted so long on this die is the placement of the die scratches. With the die scratches on the open fields, they will fade away faster. Near a device, they last a lot longer. Inside of a device, then they last the longest. That is the nature of how the die scratches fade. How can I prove this?

Note how in the center of the mintmark, the die scratches are only seen there? (making it look like it was a RPM) But it is not a listed example. Then I rotated the coin and then noticed that it was only a die scratch. With the protection of the location, the die scratch lasted longer.
