Seems to distinct on an impression to be DDD rather than a RPM, but I agree that this looks nothing like the SE RPMs on varietyvista. I'm interested to see what others think.

Wrong. This is Machine Doubling. Note the direction makes the devices reduced in that direction. DDD is only seen on single squeeze dies.

Just Machine Doubling. Machine Doubling will be seen on both sides of this coin. Note the affected mintmark is reduced in the size on that side of the mintmark. On a RPM, the RPM will be enlarged in size. (not reduced) Note the lower area on the SE? That is the normal size of the mintmark.

There is definitely DDD on this coin, the D has the appearance of a split serif at the top left but I think it is a lighting issue.

Hope this new picture sheds more on the subject
Hey my awesome forum buddy. the top looks likes it has two splits and the bottom one split. I don't know if inside the mintmark means anything? I tried different lighting and rotating the coin. Trying to get a grip on MD and DDD I put it in my head that MM has a flat shelf and DDD slants on a 45 degree angle or there about?

Note on that die number 3, it is a South RPM, not a tilted RPM. It maybe a very minor RPM, but not listed anywhere.

Note on CC's listing:
1963d-1mm-008:
http://www.coppercoins.com/lincoln/...ie_state=mds
Note how the serifs are showing stronger spread on that area? That is showing the space between the punches on this die example. Just not seeing that on your coin.

Well, it could be a new unlisted RPM. Maybe you can submit it to VV for a new attribution (get your name on it if they agree)
