Here we have 3 dateless Buffalo nickels; one from the Philadelphia mint, one from the Denver mint and one from the San Francisco mint. The object is to guess the correct dates for these dateless nickels. Please note that I have cleaned them up in some jewelry cleaner so that there can be no digits hiding behind any crud or grime. You won't know for sure what the dates are until I, through the magic of chemicals, fully restore all 3 of the nickels. If you guess all 3 of them correctly, you will have your choice of receiving all 3 of the fully restored nickels OR receiving the nice High Grade 1954-S Washington quarter shown below the nickels. To make this a little more fun, you have to declare which prize you want when you make your guess. Everybody gets a maximum of 3 guesses, but no more than 1 guess per day. (By "one guess" I mean guessing all 3 dates) If you guess more than once in any given day, only your first guess for the day will be considered. If you guess on 4 or more days, only your first 3 guesses will be considered. If you flip - flop back and forth between which prize you prefer, I will consider your choice to be whatever you chose FIRST. If more than one of you get all three dates right, the winner is the person who got them right FIRST. If NOBODY gets all three right, the winner will be whoever was closest. If two or more folks are equally close, the one who got closest FIRST, wins.

Whew! You got all that....?

Here is an example of the proper way to present your guesses:

First guess:

1936-P
1938-D
1937-S

I want the quarter if I win!

Notice - and this is CRITICAL - you MUST identify the date with the mint mark it pertains to, as I have done in the example!

Finally, before I restore all 3 nickels, I'll take a shot at guessing all 3 of them myself, and I'll do it in such a way that you'll know that I didn't cheat. (Yes - I'm pretty sure I know what they are. I've had LOTS of experience with dateless nickels!)

Contest ends on Saturday, February 21st, sometime between 11:00 PM and midnight, Eastern Time. In that last hour is when I'll make MY guess and that will be the official end to the contest. The next morning I'll restore the three nickels, photograph them for you to see and announce the winner.

Have fun!

Steve
