The photos appear to be compressed (image compression) to a rather high degree. Details/surfaces have a liquid-like look. As such, I can't offer a decent grade assessment. What's going on with Abe's coat front/shirt (below the bowtie)?

I have no sense of the surface details from these images. And surely that is not a rim clip.

Could be the pictures but the coin looks lifeless and polished. All I can say is at least EF. That is not a clip, that's a rim hit.

Thanks for your input. I really debated over suggesting a clip or not. I didn't think it out of the realm of possibility the planchette was punched just ever so slightly clipping the edge and the edge was slightly tapered. When it was Upset it left that little crescent. My theory. I've no intention on sending it in, the striations, uniformity, and lack of material being manipulated gave me pause for this notion. Anyhow, the history of the coin is uncirculated unless the previous owner lied and I don't believe he did. I paid $30 for 6 1909-1940 books and definitely got a steel. No 1909s in any. It shows luster on %90 and dull areas that seem to be not random. I can aliken it to what would appear after a minor clash occured and the die had been re-worked with faint patterns from filing. As for the photos, I used a 3rd party app with lower resolution and had to convert a .png to .jpg. My pictures literally make a perfect coin look at like it's been drug over asphalt. I'm beyond frustrated. There's a local show coming up in Utah and I hope to get some first hand instruction on photographing coins.
Thank you again. I'll try a 1922 D with a fairly strong strike next....

i have to agree with the others. the coin looks cleaned and lightly polished. AU details. it might have been a decent coin if someone didnt mess with it. some folks cant help themselves and think a nice shiny coin is worth more.

Does show wear...does look polished...are those digs above the date or lint on the camera lens?
