I've checked several sites and all of them say the black EVA foam inserts are chemically inert and free of PVC, acids or softeners. I guess they are save for any type of metal coins. Through out the years I have never heard anyone go against the capsule black inserts. If you are still not sure then store your coins in just plastic insert capsules without the inserts. At least it will give you peace of mind.Good luck

Thank you. I also found statements like this. Someone telling me he has had his his coins in those capsules since 10 years without an issue would be even more reassuring. :)

@hp, this subject has been discussed in the past here. Using the CCF search engine with keywords like BLACK FOAM will bring them up. Here is a link to one previous conversation, although I'm not sure the answer is as definitive as you are hoping: http://goccf.com/t/165858

It comes up in numerous threads. And no, no definitive answer.
Only thing I suppose if there would be a larger issue, one would have heard about it after 10+ years.
Would still be nice to hear at least from one person that he had no issues since using this for a longer time.

leuchtturm is a very good company. All I've heard about this company is only positive reviews. Many collectors here in Russia use the products of this manufacturer. I think it is also popular among other collectors in Europe. I've been using this for a short period, maybe 3 years at most, and haven't complained. Now I sell my used capsules. I have just found another acceptable storage method for myself.

I've used Lighthouse coin and currency holders and folders, including the ones mentioned here, for many years without any issues.

Thanks for the answer, reassuring.
Btw I thought the main forum was right for this thread, it specifically labelled for discussions about coin storage. Well, its ok here too I guess!

Quote: I thought the main forum was right for this thread, it specifically labelled for discussions about coin storage. Well, its ok here too I guess! No problem. The main forum is for more generic "Do you keep them in a closet?" versus specific brand name supply questions. For the record, I use a Lighthouse/Leuchtturm brand box to hold my PCGS slabs and have used their Everslab product to hold some miscellaneous Ikes. I am quite happy with them.
