Hopefully, you can post new, larger and sharper pics of the obverse and reverse, and close-in shots of the date area, and also of the rim. What is the weight of the coin (to two decimal places)? Is it magnetic?

Why do you think it's an experimental metal?

Non Metallic. I have hundreds of 1943's. Definitely not steel. Weighs a little over 3 grams.

@jim, first welcome to CCF. Second, with a weight of just over 3g, this seems to be a normal cent that someone has plated or perhaps rubbed in Mercury. Is a magnet attracted to it at all?

Also, when you say that it is "non-metallic", can you please clarify your meaning? Thx.

To CCF , can't tell anything from your photos . They have to be sharpened up . Too blurry .

The only thing I can say about this coin in the blurry image it that it is the year my mother was born.

But I'm thinking yours will be in the 3.11 gram range. (plated) The most common find.

The color is a little odd but that could be the lighting..
Weight is normal for a copper cent for that year,

Seems like an XRF scan would be about the only way to determine percentages of metallic content.
