Please look at this Morgan and let me know if it is genuine. Up for auction in a little while. These are seller's photos and all I have access to at this time. Thanks! *** Edited by Staff to Add Year to Title. Titles are Important! *** "Nummi rari mira sunt, si sumptus ferre potes." - Christophorus filius Scotiae

It looks like it could be genuine but based on the one it looks like I would take a shot at it if there's a return policy.

Thanks, Dave. I'll give it a try. Not sure about the return policy, though - need to ascertain details on that for sure.

Looks like a circulated, genuine 1878 8 tail feathers Morgan dollar in a VF grade to me.

It appears genuine. Lighting and color makes it look funky.

There is a 14-day evaluation period after receipt. I was able to purchase the coin for $105 plus fees. We shall see...
Thanks to all for looking it over!

What VAM warrants your bid?

Quote: Is 105$ not a bit steep? It is a little more than I'd usually pay for an 1878 8TF in this grade, but I'm hoping it's a particular variety.

I'd say real. About F15 details with a "long-ago cleaning" which has since toned over a bit. If cheap, it's a decent eye appeal and a good collectible coin for somebody starting out. No unsightly problems like deep scratches, de-mounted jewelry repaired, or edge knocks.
