I've posted this coin before and had replies confirming it wasn't a mule coin. Thanks for those replies. I've taken new pics and even weighed them with others to compare with. This 1988 Australian 1 dollar coin weighs the same as others. So, what kind of error is this. Any insight would be greatly appreciated

If you are referring to the rim ( always state what you think is an error
so that we are not guessing), that is not an error, it is damage.
The rims have been flattened after the coin was struck.
This is basically the same answer as the first time you posted this coin.

I'm struggling to let this go. Yes it might be damage but how was it damaged? How do you flatten rim on only one side of a coin leaving no damage/marks/evidence whatsoever? It was established that this could be damage. If you don't know just say you don't know

Knowing how a coin is damaged shouldn't really matter. It could have been filed down or done by a small hand held sander, the cause of the damage will never been known exactly unless you did it yourself or were there and witnessed it, imo.
The edge has been modified after being struck. Most blanks when produced go through a process of having a rim put on them, turning them into planchets. This edge has the appearance of having been filed down.

Have a read up on the upset mill.

Looks like a bench grinder shaved this rim.
