A dealer pulled this out of an estate lot he'd just bought while I was standing in the shop. He didn't have anything in it so gave me a fair deal and I bought it. Coin is way more attractive to the eye than in my poor images. Really need a different set up to do this one justice, but wanted to get some pics anyway. Measures to 20.6% off center and his estimate is on the high side of MS64 FSB. 1944 Mercury dime mint error - off center

Ooh that is a nice one @tb. Is the edge missing the reeds?

Thanks! And as this puppy never was in the collar, it has no reeds.

It is an off center, not an uncentered broadstrke. Generally once the devices start falling off the edges a coin becomes off center and not in the broadstrike zone anymore. A broadstrike may be centered or uncentered, but all the devices will still be complete.

Right, my mistake. Thank you for correcting me. Off centered and all, this coin is really cool. I am a sucker for classic errors.

Talking about being at the right place at the right time Your pic is fine as always. Could that be a D mint mark? If it is it makes it more interesting because Denver makes less errors than Philly therefor making Denver errors more valuable as well. John1

Fantastic error on , in my opinion, the best dime design since the original draped bust. Quite the piece !

Wow! I haven't seen many of those and definitely not in that condition.
