O.K., now I'm going through Kennedy half dollars. almost 200 of them. 1966 through almost present. anything I should keep my eye out for? Red Book and hear-say dont really say that the bi-centennials are worth much more than any of the others. any input on those? any input is great. sure wish I had that 50 posts. I know theres someone who would want all these coins I'm going through, more than the coin machine at the bank.

Anything.... 2002 and over.... and I think there's one from the 70s or 80s.... but the date escapes me.

1987 - They were only issued in mint sets.
Also, keep anything before 1971; they are either 40% silver (1965-1970) or 90% silver (1964)

Of course, the silver and clad proofs.. plus Ones from the Special Mint Sets, especially the 1998 Everything 1964-1970, especially the 1970 D What kind of condition are they in? Even the lesser-valued ones are worth nearly a buck in MS60

I agree, keep everything before 1971 and 2002-present, proofs, 1987 P&D.
Also, I think 1986 P & D are worth saving if in nice condition. And 82 and 83 P & D were not available in mint sets, so these are worth saving if they are in nice shape.

I am not familiar, what is special about the halves from 2002 to present?

The post 2001's are what is known as NIFC (not intended for circulation), so any of these found in rolls is pretty uncommon. They were only issued in mint sets and in roll form from the Mint web site

All good suggestions. I would keep an eye out for one more: the 1974 D, which may have a double die on the obverse. It is most noticeable in the "RUS" iin the "In God We Trust"
And any coin in really good condition is worth saving.

Sparkyjim, I would just take them back to the bank. Unless they are in good shape...those dates are worth just 50cents each.

I would hope you kept the 1967 halves before taking them to the bank.
