I would buy a CAC slabbed coin. I would also use there services. I wonder though will a new sticker company come around? Why not have a RNC (really nice coin) sticker company. I like your coin I put a red sticker on it! Heck if the coin is really really nice you get a purple sticker! I'll even RNC a CAC coin

Very interesting. Time will tell how the market treats them.

I wonder if ebay will recognize them as an acceptable grader, otherwise
they won't be able to sell on their website.

I read this in the past Seated Liberty Collectors newsletter E-Gobrecht #213 October, 2022 page 15:

This is an interview with Todd Imoff Executive Vice President of Heritage Auctions, Q & A with Craig Eberhart, LSCC #1348 in his column the "Auction Realm."

Quote:
<b>#3</b>. <i>"Craig Eberhart"</i> We have heard about a possible new certification service. Can you tell us anything about this?

<i>"Todd Imoff"</i> Probably the worst kept secret in numismatics! I am not in a position to tell you much about CAC's plans. CAC has been a remarkable product and huge influence on the market- place and I suspect they will immediately become a viable choice for savvy collectors and dealers. But I don't see it becoming a huge disrupter to the way we all collect and deal coins. Most of the connoisseurs I work with like the current CAC product and are comfortable having both NGC and PCGS certified coins in their collections. I suspect most will be fine adding coins slabbed by CAC too.

So it appears CAC is considering getting into the slabbing game itself and not just grading the other graders. Interesting.

EDIT: Here is a link to the E-Gobrecht issue on the NNP

Who is going to check their grading, if this comes to pass?

A very correct slightly cynical comment.

Maybe you will be able to send a CAC graded slab to CAC and get a 'CAC' Bean?'

All those CACs sound like the cat has a hairball again.

Who is now going to maintain and review the grading standards?

There has always been the temptation to give a favorable grading, so that more customers are attracted to a particular grading service.

There is ample evidence that customers who don't like a grading, go to a competitor TPG to get that favorable grading they are looking for.

Maybe more competition in the grading arena will incentivize PCGS and NGC to do a better job.

Perhaps it will put some pressure on grading fees as well.
