I found ths quarter that is thinner than usual and weighs 5.33 and you can see on the edge 3 colors not two is it error or just damge ? Would appreciate your thoughts

Your coin has been soaked in acid,so it is PMD.

I used to make these for the kids in my chemistry class.

1 beaker

50 ml Nitric acid

Step back and watch the clouds of brown gas and violent bubbling.

Remove coin for an object lesson helping them remember what nitric acid does to metals.

Replace coin and repeat this exercise until the disc is mostly unrecognizable as a quarter anymore!

to the CCF and nick Acid ate away the copper core more than the ni clading.

Acid soaked quarter. Much of the surfaces have been ruined. Most likely a chemistry class experiment. Spend it.
