Another member recently sold me some BU coins that he had searched for high grades only, he does not search varieties. This was a nice change of pace, seeing as I search bank rolls and the coins are not usually in that great of shape. I've found a handful of this die and want your input on whether you think it's a doubled die or just remnants from abrading/polishing. I checked all three sites and found similar but different listings, as there are several that have a doubled 2. I see no evidence of doubling anywhere else on the coin. . Looks like close to CC's #002. I was just checking 1962-2s. Think I have CC's 003 or 004.

I feel this is a normal example. Contact mark on the '2' on the top and the Area in question is probably a field issue on that area. There were a lot of Working hub issues that year. But the affected areas was on the 62 of these cents. http://doubleddie.com/307701.htmlI've always had my suspicions on this issue for some time. I have many examples put aside, then thinking it was a doubled die. But agree with it is too common to be a doubled die. For years coppercoins always held back from listing this. Because of the it being so common to find. These are found on Proof and Business strikes. There are DDO that year, but on other areas of the Coin: So I might have to recheck to see if any I have listed have been removed or not?

It does look similar, but not exact, to the doubled 2's listed on CC. I'm not sure on this one.

002 and 003 are proofs. Maybe 035 or 038?

Definitely not cc's 002, as Cujohn stated below, that listing is a proof and mine is a business strike and looks totally different. LINK https://coppercoins.com/lincoln/die...ie_state=mds

Quote: Great looking coin ! Wexler has it as a result of a doubled working hub , WWHO-004 Thanks! It's some of Thad's scrub coins, I'll take his leftovers anytime though. I looked at that one but felt mine was different. Here's a side by side.

Quote: I feel this is a normal example. I went back and looked and have found six so far. I could have used a better example than the beat up one I first posted though. Here is one in a little better condition. I do agree though, something funny about all the 2's, I'm leaning towards more doubled working hubs or at least different die stages of the few known.

Thanks for checking it out, CoinHI and Cujohn! Cujohn, I did look closely at cc 038, maybe mine being an earlier die stage.

. Ooops my bad. I didn't even pay attention that yours was a Philly. I was just looking for the 62(D) for one of mine right before I saw your post. Thought yours was close to CC's 1962 D 002. Sorry
