Strangest coin I've seen! It's so pretty! What is going on with this quarter? Is this considered some sort of error?

That toning is quite nice, but to answer your question, no it is not considered a mint error. Toning of brand new clad coins is most likely due to environmental or chemical/heat exposure.

This one brings one particular seller on ebay to mind. Search there for "Monster Rainbow Toned" in coins and you'll see what I mean. Not sure how they do it, but definitely artificial. Very unattractive in my humble opinion.
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

Effects like these can be achieved by heat and chemicals.

Yes, looks like 'accelerated toning' done intentionally.

The toning is nice! A keeper if you like it, but I would not expect a premium for it.
Rest in Peace

As you can read from the above comments, toning is not to everyone's liking. Especially man-made toning. But it's unknown if this is artificially created or natural from environmental exposure. But either way officially toning is considered post mint damage.

There are collectors who seek out such coins to add to their collections. If you like it, keep it for your collection. If not, consider selling it on ebay. Check out other toned coin listings there to get an idea as to value.

Thanks everyone! All comments are appreciated. I think it's pretty interesting in color especially since it's a new coin, 2022 year. I'll keep it with my collection of old coins and other interesting finds.

A coin that goes through the wash and has been saturated with detergent will sometimes rainbow tone like this.
