It's nice and frosty, but has several digs and a scratch across the wings. Still a beauty, however!
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

I could see MS62. Would love to have a large box full of these.

MS-62 maybe 63. I would give this one an acetone bath to see if it cleans the haze / fingerprints? off.

From the marks and light luster rub a 62.
But the milky look, dim luster dimishes eye appeal for me. Was it was strongly dipped or it is some kind of environmental effect?

This coin has an above-average strike. However, the muted luster, dark color, and scattered contact marks hurt eye appeal. The 1922 is the most common Peace dollar, readily available in all grades up to MS-65. This one may deserve a low MS grade but is not worth much more than a circulated example.
